Storms and More Storms

Here in Missouri we've been seeing our share of storms this past week--both here at home here at the Lake of the Ozarks and also when we are up at the new place near O'Fallon.  Several of the storms have been severe and yesterday the tornado warning sirens went off--there were several funnel clouds spotted and one or two actually touched down .  We were prepared to take cover and just love our wonderful hand crank flashlight/radio combo to help us keep tabs on the storms.  A very handy, dandy item to have around for many occasions!

We're about 190 miles from Joplin.  I'm thankful that, all in all, we've been respectively safe.  And my heart is broken as I look at the many pictures and read the stories about the tornado and the lives that it affected--and took.  I cannot imagine the fear the survivors must feel as each new storm rolls in.  I'll admit that it's all given me a much more healthy respect for these wicked works of nature.  I'm thankful that, even though we will be living in a mobile home (as a friend so tongue in cheek once said, "Don't you know, God hates mobile homes!"), DH's parents have a basement for shelter (next door).

A couple of pictures taken yesterday...

The view from the back of our warehouse.
The rain was just starting to come down in heavy sheets.

A weak rainbow over our warehouse a couple of hours after the storm
